On-call staff shifts may be a last minute arrangement, in the case of a regular staff member calling in sick, or shifts can often be prearranged based on a planned staff's vacation. On-Call Residential AdvisorOur RA’s provide guidance and encouragement to students. Your job is to help them deal with the daily stresses of living in a dorm environment, as well as enlightening them to the perks of it. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Listen to students’ concerns and help them problem solve.
Monitor the dorms for safety and appropriate behavior.
Prepare documentation including accountability of students and activity log.
Must be able to quickly run up and down multiple flights of stairs to evacuate dorm in the event of a fire drill or other emergency.
Refer students to counselors as needed.
All staff are responsible to support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps zero tolerance policy and consistently model career success standards and intervene when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
Job Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalent. Dynamic team leadership skills and good conflict interventions skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency, and valid driver license in your state of residence with an acceptable driving record. Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds, and walk outside on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions during patrols. Preferred: Experience in counseling, social work, rehabilitation, security, law enforcement, vocational guidance, or verified voluntary experience working with youth.Hourly wage: $13.00Schedule: On-call position, working a variety of shifts – afternoon, evenings, nights and weekends.Benefits: Sick time accrues based on time worked.About us:Tongue Point Job Corps Center is operated by MTC for the U.S. Department of Labor. Located at the mouth of the Columbia River, the Center is one of the five largest employers in Clatsop County. Our staff teach 473 youth, ages 16-24, the academic, technical training, employability, and social skills needed to become prepared for successful careers. A Job Corps campus is like a mini-city. It has dormitories, classrooms, a dining hall, and recreational and medical facilities. Training is open entry, open exit and can last up to two years. Students work at their own pace, guided by academic and career training instructors who are committed to their success.Tongue Point offers students training in 16 vocations: building construction technology, carpentry, cement masonry, computer service technology, culinary, dental assisting, electrical, glazing, landscaping, medical assisting, office administration, painting, plastering, welding, and seamanship.
