Our public policy analyst is responsible for assisting with research activities, presentations, and writing reports in areas relevant to MTC.
Extract relevant data from a variety of sources, compile data into figures, and prepare reports utilizing latest research results.
Gather and review research regarding effective career and technical education, standards-based correctional practices, evidence-based behavioral innovations for at-risk populations, and innovative workforce development strategies.
Transform raw data into more usable forms via various statistical formulae and equations.
Interpret results of statistical compilations, detect inconsistencies in reported data, and attempt to explain causes.
Stay abreast of current public policy trends regarding workforce development, criminal justice, corrections, youth career and technical training, education, and contracting of government services.
Recommend publication plan timelines, gather material, interview contributors, and write and edit publications.
Participate in identifying MTC Institute projects.
Provide needed research as requested by management.
Make presentations at internal and external meetings and conferences, as requested.
Participate in MTC Institute meetings and share research.
Maintain MTC Institute website pages, both internally and externally.
Apply sound quantitative and/or qualitative analysis techniques and methods
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in social science, history, public policy administration, economics or related field and two years related experience. Master’s degree preferred. Must also have experience in education, training, workforce and/or corrections program, policy and data analysis; superior research, writing and editing skills. Must be willing and able to travel. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Unless waived by management, valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
