MTC Senior Accountant - Payroll in Centerville, Utah

Overview

Position Summary:

Reports to the payroll director. Responsible for processing payroll in compliance with company policies. Supports shared services team with payroll related inquiries and performs a variety of accounting tasks related to payroll processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll processing by the pre-determined deadline.

  • Ensure all payroll documentation is properly archived.

  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality pertaining to all payroll matters.

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the bonus payments, retro wages, and any other special payrolls off-cycle requests.

  • Review and adjust payroll related items in error suspense account.

  • Complete month-end accounting journal entries related to payroll.

  • Maintain payroll process documentation.

  • Support finance department and shared services team with employee payroll-related inquiries.

  • Reconcile payroll accrual accounts.

  • Assist in the preparation of audit requests as they arise.

  • Responsible for providing payroll data to the Department of Labor on monthly and quarterly basis.

It is expected that the employee shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related field plus three years of accounting experience.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of payroll process, FLSA, and state payroll tax requirements.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills,

  • Must have strong computer skills with a willingness to learn new processes and information systems.

  • Must be willing and able to travel.

  • Unless waived by management, valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.

  • Experience in Workforce Solution and Oracle Fusion software programs preferred.
